Her Time

It is Saturday morning, barely 7am and I am awake. When I was younger – even just a few years back – I could never wrap my head around the fact that my mom wakes up so early on the weekends. Way before anyone else. While the rest of the house is still sleeping, she keeps busy by checking things of her to-do list. Much to our advantage, preparing an elaborate breakfast table is usually one of them. While I had little understanding of how she managed to get herself out of bed at such ease early in the morning, those first couple of hours of the day always stuck with me as “her time”.

Fast forward a couple of years and here I am, celebrating any and every minute that I stay in bed past 8am, let alone 9 or even 10, Saturday or Sunday – without jetlag or a night out being the reason, of course. But instead of tossing and turning, trying to keep Mike company in our warm bed, I now get up for my very own “her time”. Because let’s face it, time is one of the most precious goods we have. Time is luxury. Even though it took me a while to fully appreciate those early mornings, it is now a part of my day that I get to savour all by myself.

Speaking of time: Not only did my appreciation for early mornings grow over time, but also my love for lifetime pieces like my Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Ladies. After years of happily collecting all kinds of watches (all valued under 300€), I felt very grown up when I purchased my first Omega watch at the end of last year.

Tales of Time

I started working with Omega in 2016 but have known the brand all my life – after all, the Omega Speedmaster is the watch my mom gifted my dad for their wedding. And it is also the watch I decided to give Mike for his 30th birthday…

The Aqua Terra 150m Omega Master Co-Axial Ladies was the exact watch I wore to kick-off the collaboration with Omega 2 years ago. When the 6 months of wear-time expired, I returned it with a heavy heart and made sure to drop not one but several comments of how much I was going to miss it. More than a year went by, during which I spent my time researching the perfect watch for Mike’s 30th. Always ending up back at Omega. Always seeing the Ladies Seamaster Aqua Terra there right next to the one I ended up purchasing for him. Then, just before Christmas “my” watch was finally available. Slightly worn but just as beautiful and timeless as ever. And the rest is history… or should I say “Her Story”?

Living in a fast paced industry, time seems to fly by. Days, weeks, years. However, the watch on my wrist is a gentle reminder of what a true luxury time really is. So here is to early mornings, which we have to ourselves, walking through life hand in hand with the person we love, spending time with the ones that matter most and making sure to take care of ourselves along the way to make the best of our time!
